The truth about the renovation of government buildings

In the beginning of 2026, BUNKER BG completed a partial renovation of a state-owned bunker in the Montana region. The old air filtration filters in every shelter in Bulgaria are due to be replaced, along with the entire ventilation system. Otherwise, in the event of radioactive or chemical contamination, the entire facility becomes completely unusable. Before the 1990s, Bulgaria built numerous facilities with very solid infrastructure, but at present they are unusable because the installations are in critical condition due to lack of maintenance and neglect. Currently, over 95% of the shelters are practically unusable and even pose a serious risk to people’s lives if they begin to fill up in a time of need. The sad truth is that in a time of crisis, the state has no way to protect its citizens by providing secure shelters. To rest on the belief that “such times will never come” is indifference for which we may one day pay a high price.

A partial renovation takes up to 6 months. A complete renovation takes between one and two years. If the state does not take immediate action now, it will be too late when the need arises.

And yet there are people within state structures who have the will and the foresight to take the first steps toward "renovation." We would like to thank Eng. Kalin Haitov—the former regional governor of the Municipality of Montana—who organized the entire process, and the current regional governor, Mihail Ivanov, under whose leadership we completed the partial replacement of the filter-ventilation system. BUNKER BG conducted an analysis and provided recommendations on what else needs to be replaced so that the facility can function in its "air purification" part, and we are available to carry out this work.
